About Us

About The Tokiloken Foundation

We’re on a mission to help dogs in need live safer, happier lives. Through emergency aid, treatment support, and advocacy, the Tokiloken Foundation is creating real change for pets and their people.

Every item in our shop and every donation helps fund veterinary care, supplies, and awareness programs. Your support also helps us contribute to no-kill shelters and partner nonprofits, including foster families working tirelessly to save and rehome dogs.

We’re not a nonprofit yet—but we’re working toward it, and your support brings us closer every day.

Shop with purpose. Give with heart. Stand with dogs in need.

Brand Mission

Mission

The Tokiloken Foundation was created in honor of Loki, a German Shorthaired Pointer who survived a life-threatening Addison’s crisis. Our mission is to raise awareness, support families caring for dogs with chronic conditions, and offer financial assistance through merchandise sales. A portion of every purchase helps dogs live healthier, happier lives.

Addison's Disease in Dogs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Addison's disease in dogs?

Addison’s disease, or hypoadrenocorticism, is a hormonal disorder where the adrenal glands fail to produce enough cortisol and aldosterone, which are critical for regulating stress, blood pressure, and electrolytes.

What are the symptoms of Addison's disease?
Common signs include lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, poor appetite, weight loss, shaking, weakness, and excessive drooling. Some dogs may collapse suddenly in an “Addisonian crisis,” which is a medical emergency.
How is Addison's disease diagnosed?

Diagnosis typically involves blood work to check for abnormal sodium and potassium levels, and an ACTH stimulation test to assess adrenal gland function.

Can Addison's disease be treated?

Yes. Treatment usually involves lifelong hormone replacement therapy, including daily oral medications (like prednisone) and sometimes monthly injections (DOCP) to manage electrolyte balance.

What is the long-term outlook for a dog with Addison's?

With proper treatment and monitoring, dogs with Addison’s can live normal, happy lives. Regular vet visits and blood tests are key to managing the condition.
